Engineers Reports

Michael Hudson-Doyle <mwhudson>

Highlights

  • Landed dispatcher refactorings
  • Tested instance-based deployment a bunch, worked on instancifying scheduler
  • Some blueprint fiddling around dispatcher.

Plans

  • Help some more with instance based deployment.
  • Fix some scheduler bugs.
  • At least get some blueprints written for kernel-ci-views improvements.

Issues

  • In retrospect, the instance based deployment changes breaking my development workflow was a major disruption. Let's not do that again :-) (and write some developer focussed docs)

Yongqin Liu <liuyq>

Highlights

  • Works on trying to run lava for ICS

Plans

  • commit modification for running lava on ICS
  • works on test package of lava-android-test

Issues

  • N/A

Paul Larson <plars>

Highlights

  • Mostly on vacation over the past week
  • Got a snowball v11, with hints from ChiThu (thanks!) we sorted out how to control hardreset on the board

  • Found and fixed some issues with testing in the lab
  • Prepared slides for discussion with shoeleather labs about LAVA
  • roadmap/blueprint work
  • Fixed QEMU tests in the lab

Plans

  • Continue getting in touch with members about test suites

Issues

  • none

Le Chi Thu <ChiThu>

Highlights

  • Found a solution for power recycle of snowball V11.
  • Improved scheduler UI job detail page. MP is on review.
  • Create a master image and able to deploy android test image on my snowball

Plans

  • Continue with deploy android image and add LAVA CI of Android build

Issues

  • No easy way to deploy the LAVA component for review, specially UI changes.

Zygmunt Krynicki <zyga>

Highlights

  • Working on flexible deployment, improving upstart jobs, script actions, permissions, layout and documentation.
  • I did some practical celery testing, found a few configuration issues. I wrote lava-vcs to have some semi-realistic tasks.
  • Cut my teeth with master images and end-to-end testing. Got burned by master image design issues (no pre-made images available, cloned mac on image cloning, no scripted construction, no well-defined package set, no way to reproduce someone else's master image, no way to get identical environment) and on practical configuration issues (a lot of work to configure the first device)
  • Did some R&D on master images, nfs/nbd rootfs, board identity. Looked at how to take dispatcher apart and rewrite it to work better with lava-server.

  • Came up (thanks to mwhudson's practical thinking) with a migration plan http://pad.ubuntu.com/IjHrwiSGWH

Plans

  • Do the migration over weekend, observe next week
  • Communicate my concerns over current master images
  • Fix master images, take dispatcher apart, integrate with celery and lava-server

Issues

  • I'm flying to Poland next week. I'll be away for most of the month.
