Agenda

  • clutk update
  • clutter update
  • efl update

Minutes

  • Labour day in US, some attendees missing.
    • Sachin needs to discuss with Rob Clark.
  • egl texture pixmap extension (graeme)
    • egl extension probing done by graeme
    • currently developing against MESA
    • finish code, real driver implementation/test
  • clutk update (jammy):
    • Directly manipulating vertex shaders in clutk GLES2 doesn't play well with clutter.
    • ACTION: Jammy to send out email to list + others explaining the clutk issues.
    • ACTION: Jammy to publish clutk GLES2 code on launchpad (and include link in mail).
  • clutter update (alf):
    • Need to make cogl-defines.h independent of GL headers to make GL/GLES cross-builds possible.
      • First experimental approach has problems with inclusion order of GL and clutter/cogl headers in client applications.
      • ACTION: Alf to improve solution on cogl-defines.h issue.
      • In any case, we need to fix apps that directly use GL, to not depend on GL headers being included by clutter/cogl (eg clutk, mutter, gnome-shell).
    • Need to offer transparent support for NPOT/rectangle textures so that applications (eg mutter) don't need to directly use GL code to support older hardware:
      • Upstream is thinking about adding public API for requesting specific texture types (2D, 3D, rectangle).
      • Alf has had positive first results with backporting the clutter_texture_rectangle implementation to 1.2 and using it.
      • Alf pointed out that rectangle textures have inherent limitations (no mipmapping, only clamp to edge) and use a different coordinate system, so they should be used only if the user explicitly asks for them (we therefore need an explicit API).
      • ACTION: Sachin and alf to talk about how to best support NPOT/rectangle textures.
  • efl update (ricardo):
    • Now has working beta image.
    • No drivers yet for boards.
    • ACTION: Ricardo to start experimenting with efl, clutter-tests, plasma mobile to check if anything is needed for GLES support.
