Actions from previous meeting

  • Ilias to help check the sessions on ARMHF + cross-distro are in place for the schedule

Attendees

  • David Rusling
  • Steve McIntyre

  • Grant Likely
  • Paul McKenney

  • Ilias Biris

Minutes

  • David:
    • Preparing sessions for Connect. Preparing to chair a session on long-term supported kernel.
    • Could also go for Plumbers and present something (to define with Paul).
  • Steve:
    • Has 2 Connect sessions set getting ready for those. Will also check with wookie to make sure all the info is collected.
    • Fighting binutils (again) - trying to get agreement on what the extra ARM extensions should be like, so that they are defined properly. Also for V8 we will not need any such extensions so trying to future proof the work. Expecting no controversy if the ARM toolchain team provides their backing also.
    • Will miss the meeting next Tuesday (vacation).
    • Expects to be at debconf in first week of July, do we have anything that can be discussed over V8? Another option will be FOSDEM in February 2013.
  • Grant:
    • big.LITTLE preparing the demo. Switcher to be done in next couple of dates, expecting feedback after that.
      • Question: Ilias asked why card-126 in JIRA needs many resources - must ask Mounir instead.
    • From the point of view of server/enterprise networking: number of sessions at Connect. Members are interested in putting the requirements in existing WGs and to put the work on the roadmap. ACPI and boot architecture related
      • Once we are passed the HK Connect, Grant expects to work on ACPI and boot-architecture.
      • ACPI surpassing DT: possible. Point is to morph ACPI, getting a subset of ACPI which is pretty close to DT. Grant has been discussing common bindings and sharing parts between DT and ACPI. Biggest problem with ACPI: heavy reliance on methods, and that you cannot drop a blob in memory and just use it - no option for simple fw.
  • Ilias:
    • taking care of the two OCTO cards:
    • OPSCOM: work ongoing to get the JIRA tool tweaked as needed, meetings ongoing with status reports given based on the JIRA progress updates. Ilias set a couple of sessions with TLs and PMs. Ilias asked to participate in the TSC meetings (if possible) to prepare the shortlist of cards to aim for in the next quarter. David will set this up.
  • Paul:
    • Getting on with RCU - last remaining issue with ignored timers seems to be fixed (tested out by the community).
    • Focus on shaking the trees for Linux Plumbers submissions.
    • Progress on the CPU Hotplug work, now have a good understanding (AmitK, DavidZ and Paul) on what the Member deliverables would be (before just a list of components, now having scenarios on what can be done with CPU Hotplug) and also managing more of the automation when it becomes available.
    • For Connect: emulation in place to present during Connect/Plumbers.
