Summit Blueprints

MLH is confused about how to organise the blueprints for the summit. Blueprints are used for multiple things including:

  • Technical requirements from the TSC (tr-*)
  • Individual blocks of work ('real' blueprints)
  • Scheduling sessions at the summit (other-linaro-n-*)

There are up to seven hour long sessions per day. Assuming 40 % utilisation then we can fit 14 sessions.

Looking at it another way, there are 35 sessions times 14 rooms across a 400 person company. We're 12 people so we should use 14 sessions.

PM has four summit blueprints. About right for the size of the group. They may be back-to-back so equivalent to eight.

Given the current blueprints, topics include:

  • Thumb-2 performance approaches
  • NEON performance approaches
  • profiler-driven-feedback
  • prelink-support
  • armv7-library-tuning
  • GOLD?
  • GDB gross correctness
  • valgrind
  • Future
  • oprofile and perf
  • OpenOCD
  • Future GDB - replay, tracepoints
  • Benchmarks
  • QEMU and OpenGL
  • QEMU development system
  • QEMU A9 support
  • Consumer support
  • Android
  • Working with ARM

What problems do we have at the moment?

  • Timezones
  • Working wtih ARM
  • Size of the group
  • Measuring performance
  • Licensing
  • Future

Ones covered by other groups:

  • Cross compilers
  • Continious builds
  • 4.6 in Ubuntu

The normal ones are:

  • Open session 1
  • Open session 2

Sessions:

  • Open session 1 - Now
  • Open session 2 - Future (llvm, OpenCL)
  • Thumb-2 performance approaches
  • NEON performance approaches
  • Non-GCC performance (prelink, PDF, GOLD)
  • Non-softfp support
  • GDB current and future on ARM
  • OpenOCD
  • QEMU as a demo system (OpenGL)
  • QEMU as a development system
  • Customers and models
  • Library tuning
  • Developer tools - oprofile, perf, valgrind, tr-toolchain-dev-tools

Things we won't cover:

  • 4.6 approach (is understood)

Where should these blueprints be attached?

  • /linaro? Matches /ubuntu...
  • PM uses linaro-pm-wg, but linaro-toolchain-wg is abandoned. MLH doesn't have write access
  • /project-name? Not all match
