Fast Model

Use the floating licenses. See Process/Flexlm. Grab FM000-KT-00026-r7p0-04rel0.tgz or similar using sftp.

As at 2012-04-13 I used kvm-v6-v3.3-rc3 and the .config attached to the wiki page.

Boot wrapper

Prebuilt soon in a Linaro tools PPA near you.

Root

Use the Ubuntu Precise cloud image at http://uec-images.ubuntu.com/precise/current/precise-server-cloudimg-armhf.tar.gz. Advantage is that it's prebuilt.

Untar and use the raw image from inside.

Run

Takes about four minutes to get to a prompt on my machine. Login as ubuntu:passw0rd.

The semihosting command line is --kernel path-to-uImage -- kernel-args

The kernel arguments are:

  • console=ttyAMA0 mem=512M earlyprintk
  • root=/dev/mmcblk0 rw rootwait
  • ip=dhcp (only really needed for NFS)
  • --no-log (work around a logging fault in upstart)
  • ds=nocloud-net;s=http://192.168.1.11/users/michaelh/nocloud/ (set where to init the cloud instance from)

The model doesn't seem to handle DNS names. Use the IP address of http://ex.seabright.co.nz/users/michaelh/nocloud/
