Contributing to the Linux Kernel, or the True Confessions of a Recovering Proprietary Programmer
Session Lead: Paul McKenney
Learning to work successfully with the Linux kernel community can be a challenge, though one that a great many people in Linaro have surmounted. However, transitioning from a closed environment to the completely open Linux kernel environment brings additional challenges.
This session will feature a lecture-style discussion of these challenges and how best to face them, followed by a working session which will involve small-group work with the goal of having each participant actually submit a patch, whether their first patch or a reworking of a patch that has faced resistance, with assistance from Linaro's upstream-savvy assignees.
